How To Be A Creative Christian

Our minds should be renewed by God’s Word daily

The Holy Spirit should transform our dark sinful hearts into light-filled with God’s love so we can understand and accept His transforming grace. If you find yourself surrounded by darkness and depression, it may mean your heart is full of sin and needs to be cleansed through repentance and faith in the blood of Jesus Christ who came to set us free from sin (Romans 6:18).

We should worship God with all that we are and create

Worshiping God isn’t simply attending Sunday service, singing songs, or praying – although those things play a role in our worship experience. Worship is also expressed through what we do (Philippians 2:10-11). As we spend time with God, we should feel the desire to bring Him glory through creating things. Whether it be painting a picture, writing a song, making videos, or recording podcasts – our unique individual talents and creativity is something that belongs to God so we should offer them back up to Him daily in worship (1 Corinthians 6:20).

We should live out what we believe verbally and creatively

When we truly accept Christ into our lives and begin living for Him, we will want others to see the difference that He’s made in us and in turn share His love with them. We can do that by sharing our testimonies through vocal means such as blogging or vlogging about how Jesus has brought us from darkness into light or through visual means such as designing graphics or making YouTube videos about our testimonies.

We should encourage other creatives to seek God

Many times Christians are looked at by non-believers as being hypocritical, boring, and dull people who simply want to judge others for their supposed wrongdoings. This couldn’t be further from the truth because Christ came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15) including artists, designers, musicians, actors, models, entrepreneurs, etc who are too caught up in this world’s fads to know that they need Jesus Christ in their lives.

As a Christian, you can help change that perception of Christians by encouraging other creatives through words of encouragement on social media platforms such as Facebook & Twitter or even by using your creative talents to make graphics or videos that speak of God’s love and grace.

We should not compare ourselves to others

Some Christians will see a successful Christian artist, musician, designer, etc. and become upset because their gifting’s haven’t been as fruitful as they would have liked them to be. This is the sinful nature at work revealing itself for what it is: selfishness.

While it’s good to look up to those who are doing well for themselves in their particular creative fields, we can’t let our desire for popularity control us into thinking that having a “successful” testimony means that we must be just like them before God accepts us into His kingdom through Jesus Christ (Romans 12:3).

If you’re a writer, don’t compare yourself to J.K Rowling or even other Christian authors because each of us is uniquely gifted, so let God work through you in the form that He wants to use you in.

These are simply things that Christians should know if they want their gifts & talents to be used for the glory of God.
